Okay so this will be my second blog on making this all natural general purpose spray cleaner. Yep that is how much I love it that I feel the need to write another blog and share my love of this easy to make product. Not only easy but using all natural ingredients means my kids can help me make it and help clean with it without me worrying if they get some on their skin or accidentally spray themselves in the face. Yep this happened, if it was a harsh chemical / toxic spray cleaner from the store I would have freaked out but my little guy just shock his head and continued on his way. So lets get to it.
Get your spray bottle, either new or used
2 cups of vinegar
1 tbsp of baking soda
1/2 cup of water
15 drops of essential oils
When I make my spray I put the baking soda in first and I put about 1/2 a cup of vinegar and shake it around until all the reaction is done. Then I add the rest of the ingredients, you make want to leave the lid open for a short time to make sure there is no more extra carbon dioxide gas being made so you bottle doesn't expand.
How much do you save? Let's see
2 cups of vinegar cost: $1.97 (not on sale) $.05 per 100ml about $.24 total
1 tbsp baking soda cost: $1.08 for 500g about $0.11 total
1/2 cup of water cost: I call this free $0
15 drops of essential oils cost: I will use about 8 drops of protective blend $1.39 and 7 drops of lemon $0.42
For a large bottle of general cleaning spray $ 2.16 for according to my dad the best cleaning spray he has ever used!!
If you purchase from a less expensive store the brands including no name go for about $2.98 to over $10.47 which are full of chemicals you really don't want your kids touching!
That is one of the first reasons I got into essential oils was when my kids were really little and still do everything goes in the mouth. They are on the floor and will lick the counter, table... I didn't want them ingesting all those ingredients from the store purchased brands. Even after it is dry is still leaves a residue that goes into everyone's system and I just didn't want that for my family. I'm trying to reduce the toxic load and free radicals where I can for my family.
Again since so many products include antibacterial labels I thought it would be important to share this again. Antibacterial chemicals which is becoming illegal in some states in 2017 and is illegal in most of Europe and in Minnesota because they contain Triclosan which cause a host of issues. For information on some products that contain Triclosan click here.

*** make sure to only use pure essential oils, the higher the quality the better. Once you get into higher quality oils not only do they help more with the cleaning but they also have side benefits on a therapeutic level. Make sure you 100% trust the company you are purchasing from and not just relying on what you see on the label as many companies have been caught lying on their bottles which can be dangerous.
