Okay so I will say that my boys, both of them will lick the counter, wouldn't be surprised if the floor got a taste too. I'm not really an all natural type girl or never saw myself as such but it didn't sit too well with me using harsh chemicals to clean the kitchen knowing little hands and tongues touch those surfaces. So I looked up what I could do EASILY!! ya I needed it to be easy and inexpensive because I love deals and saving money.
I got a few jugs of vinegar and I tried to do the add some rinds in a jar to make your cleaning solution not smell like well like vinegar. Ya so not only did that not really work to well, not into the jar and waiting thing especially for not such a great outcome.
Then essential oils came into my life and oh boy did that make a big difference!! Not only did my solution smell great now but all the added benefits of the essential oils such as cleaning and purifying properties, protection against seasonal and environmental threats. Not to mention so much easier!! So without further ado here is my recipe for a general cleaning spray that I use.
*** gave some to my parents, my dad used it and said it was the best cleaner he had ever used and that they need more!! WOW if that doesn't say anything nothing does!
So I have two type of spray bottle, one is a heavy plastic one and the other is metal. Since the essential oils are diluted and it is not for storing them the plastic one works well too. I put 1/2 cup of water in the bottle, 1 tablespoon of baking soda. The baking soda is not only good for cleaning but it give the essential oils something to hold onto and not just stay on the sides of the bottle. Then I add 10 - 15 drops (depends on the size of the bottle) of wild orange (my fav) or lemon then I also add another 10 - 15 drops of a protective blend. Then I add only a small amount of vinegar as you will have a reaction. Once the reaction has settled I fill the rest of the bottle with vinegar. Now next time I think I will use epsom salt instead so there is no reaction. Since the reaction creates a lot of bubbles I leave the top loose for 24 hrs so the gas escape.
Then clean away with no worries about little ones getting a hold of the bottle itself, yep happened last week. Or licking the counters, tables... :)
** I suggest only using 100% pure and high quality essential oils
