For those of you who know the pain of a non-sleeper
My neighbor Theresa suggested I write a blog about a cold night, lack of sleep and oils. So here is goes..
I'm a very happy stay at home mom with multiple businesses I run out of my home. That being said, saying I don't really get out much is probably an understatement. My older boy when it comes to sleep is what "they" call a unicorn baby pretty much. Sure he would only sleep in this crib or in the car seat but he did and slept through the night at a very young age. Never had to sleep train, one day at maybe around 8 months I was rocking him and he pointed to his bed. That was it he just wanted to go to his crib to fall asleep from that day on. Now we move into my second born son. He is what Dr. Sears calls a high needs baby. We are 18 months and he still doesn't sleep through the night. He has a great deal difficulty falling and staying asleep. Again to say I'm tired is another understatement.
My husband has a hectic schedule but one night on his night off I head out. I'm selling Tupperware so I went to deliver some catalogs to some of my neighbors. Sure it was freezing cold and late at night but I was out. As to not disturb anyone I was just putting catalogs on their mailboxes. As I walk up to Therese's house I guess they saw me through the window. They understand about non sleeping babies as their first born was a non-sleeper. We chatted a bit which if course was amazingly fun for me to speak with another adult. After discussing how tired I was Theresa offered me what she now uses that has both her kids soundly sleeping. For me thinking why not I'll try it can't do any harm. She gives me a roller bottle full of wonderful essential oils, her own mixture for sleeping. The next night I try it. I put some on the bottom of my boys feet. Huh smells kinda nice. My older son as of late as gotten into waking up a few times at night. That first night with the oils he slept right through. Ok, I thought well he does sleep through at times. Over the next few nights does he not only ask for it to be put on but he keeps sleeping all night long. It really worked well on him. Now the big test, my non sleeper. up to this point he would wake up at least 1 time if not 2 or more before midnight. After midnight as well a few times. The first night of using the oils he slept right through until 1am and only woke up once. Wow okay maybe coincidence. Second night same thing. The following night he would wake up on average 1 sometimes twice after midnight. To you that might mean nothing but to me that was amazing. He went from being up about 4 times to once or twice.
I also make my own cleaning solution as I don't like the kids to touch, lick anything with too many chemicals. I would add actual lemon to it but it wasn't really working out. I got some wild orange oil and oh boy does it work way better. Makes my solution smell great and added bonuses of the wild orange oil properties.
I went to an oil intro class and now I'm getting my own oils. I've been out of the sleeping oils for a few weeks and oh boy do I see the difference. Need to get the boys back on it.
