So with the new year looming I need to get back into the habit of not only looking after myself but trying to lose that baby weight that just won't go. Okay when I say baby weight well came on with baby and didn't leave after birth 3 years ago.
I have read 2 great articles this week which not only really resonated with me but I feel like everyone should read them. So I thought I would do a blog about my experience and a chance to share these 2 other articles.
I wanted to share a huge thing for myself personally, all those with non sleeping babies will understand. With those with "unicorn" babies will understand a part of it from the first time your newborn slept through the night. For the first time in 19 months (well 19 months tomorrow) my little guy slept through the night. OMG this was huge for me, like massive huge.
For those of you who know the pain of a non-sleeper
My neighbor Theresa suggested I write a blog about a cold night, lack of sleep and oils. So here is goes..
So a poo incident happened the other day which made me realize having worked with and ridden horses for over 30 actually helped prepare me for that moment. Here is a list of 5 ways being with horses prepared me for kids.
So I just read this article End the mommy Wars. Looking at this article made me realize the base issue of the mommy wars. Looking at the photo that says Making different choices & raising healthy children is when it hit me. Many people have very strong views on what is healthy and what is not when it comes to children. Even though a lot of those choices are made by both parents the mom is the one to get credit / blame most of the time. Hence the mommy wars
Here is the thing with firsts they can be so wonderful. The first time your baby smiles at you. They don't only smile they smile with their whole body, their whole being. It gives you more joy then anyone before. The first time your baby sits, I must admit with my first born this made me cry. Not because of this grand milestone but it meant he was growing up and way too fast. The first time they taste something sweet and you grab your camera or something sour and get that on tape. The first time they let go of your hand and take a few precious steps. Before you know it they are off and running. There are so many wonderful and joyous firsts, they talk about them over and over again in books. The reason being they do make the best memories and just thinking about it for the rest of your life, it makes you smile.
So much for me trying to do a blog every week. I do have some things I wanted to blog about but don't seem to get much time to do them. What I do have time for is to expand on what I write on my Toronto Mom to Mom FB page on other blogs. SO I thought why don't I just do that here?
So I'll try it.
Today was a super fun day for my photos. Last weekend I went to a horse show to take some photos for a family and for Horse Junkies United. It was a beautiful day and loved taking photos of horses in action again. Was a little bit more difficult with toddler and infant in tow but my husband was there to help. HJU (horse junkies united) not only put my photos on their website but did a meme of one of my pictures. It's gotten a lot of shares so far which for me is pretty cool. Now I decided maybe I should add a facebook page to go with my website. Busy rainy day trying to work and help look after the boys.
My toddler well I guess now maybe he is a preschooler? Had fun at the Rip Gauthier Hunter Derby. He played with my friend's son, played in the dirt, watched some horses and sat on a very cute, very little pony names Itsy Bitzy. Even my husband had fun for once although I think the "special coffees" and wine had something to do with it. All in all it was a nice family day out and a good work day for me.
